Diesterweg Scholarship

Educational success doesn't just start in the classroom, but in a family environment. The Diesterweg Scholarship from the Maria Streibich Foundation starts right here and supports children and their families in a decisive transition phase of their educational biography.

Education needs a family

The Diesterweg Scholarship is the first educational grant for families in Germany. It is aimed at children in the 4th and 5th grades as well as their parents and siblings and accompanies them during the transition from elementary to secondary school. The aim is to make education a common family issue and thus improve long-term chances of success — even for younger siblings.

Holistic support beyond everyday school life

The focus is on comprehensive support that combines educational, social and cultural aspects. The families get to know the German school system as well as extracurricular learning locations in their living environment. These include:

—Workshops on learning techniques and media literacy

—Joint trips to libraries, museums and cultural institutions

—Individual advice and support for the entire family

Strong collaborations, lasting impact

The scholarship depends on the cooperation of many actors: schools, social institutions, volunteer supporters and municipal institutions work closely together. Experience shows that this networking not only gives children security and orientation, but also strengthens parents and promotes social participation. Positive effects can be proven in the long term in school success and in family relationships.

Commitment to equal opportunities

With its funding, the Maria Streibich Foundation helps children with potential — regardless of origin or social background — develop their abilities. The Diesterweg Scholarship is thus an example of educational work that shares responsibility, strengthens community and opens up real future prospects.
