Naming

Visionary with charm and entrepreneurial skills

Maria Streibich was born in Schwarzach in 1920 and grew up in a strict Catholic family. Her grandfather was mayor, and her exceptional talent was already evident at school — giving her the nickname “Einster-Marie.”

The Second World War brought severe suffering to her family: The death of her brother shaped her throughout her life. After school, she worked in a household in Frankfurt am Main — a remarkable coincidence, because it was exactly there that her granddaughter Maria Streibich was born 70 years later. In 1948, Maria married the innkeeper Fritz Streibich and took over a restaurant with him that had been neglected due to the war. With tireless dedication, exceptional cooking talent and entrepreneurial skills, she developed the company over the years into a successful hotel and catering company.

In addition to her role as a cook and mother of five children, she actively worked in agriculture and led the business decisively. Their working day began at 6:00 in the morning and often only ended at 1:00 in the morning — 364 days a year. Only on Christmas Eve was it over at 18:00.

Maria Streibich was convinced that the right diet influences a person's metabolism and the entire life of a person. This conviction not only shaped their own lifestyle, but also the education of their children. Although she was unable to complete her studies due to the global economic crisis and the turmoil of war, she provided all five children with a sound education and academic degrees.

With her warm, diplomatic nature, her cooking talent and her entrepreneurial spirit, she was highly regarded. Her creativity and commitment made her company successful across the region and had a lasting impact on her family.

Her life's work lives on today in the Maria Streibich Foundation, which is dedicated, among other things, to the topics of health and prevention — entirely in her spirit.
