Youth Office Überlingen

Around 120 young singers from Überlingen and the region are currently receiving musical and vocal training in five age groups by Münster cantor Melanie Jäger-Waldau. The youth cantorei organises church services and traditional St. Nicholas devotions, participates in Münster Choir concerts and performs at regional and supra-regional choir meetings. A particular highlight is the rehearsal and performance of a major musical every two years — a project that has an artistic and human impact.
More than music
Singing together teaches much more than musical skills. The young people experience teamwork, reliability and perseverance, strengthen their self-confidence and learn how rewarding working together towards a long-term goal can be. At the same time, singing has a beneficial effect on health, reduces stress and strengthens the body and mind. By engaging with sacred works, many also receive orientation and values that accompany them in their own lives.
To make all of this possible, the youth cantorei depends on support. In particular, the elaborate musical productions — such as the planned musical Aladin and the Magic Lamp in November 2025 — cause high costs that cannot be covered by entrance fees alone. Thanks to generous funding from the Maria Streibich Foundation, young people have the opportunity to participate in ambitious productions, take on responsibility and excel on stage. A commitment that has a lasting effect — far beyond the last round of applause.
