Project

Salem Castle School

Health, sustainability and responsibility are key future issues of our time. With the “Health for all — ONE HEALTH” project, the Salem Castle School and the Maria Streibich Foundation are systematically integrating a holistic understanding of health into their educational mission.

Education for responsibility in a connected world

The project follows the international ONE Health approach, which focuses on the inseparable link between human health, animal health and the environment. The aim is to sensitize young people to these connections at an early stage and to empower them to take responsibility for themselves, the community and the planet. In doing so, Salem builds on its long tradition of democratic, experience-based education and expands it to include current global challenges such as climate change, pandemic risks and resource consumption.

Learning through experience and participation

ONE HEALTH is not taught theoretically, but is integrated into everyday school life in a practical way — interdisciplinary, participatory and experience-oriented. These include:

—Projects on healthy and sustainable nutrition

—Nature and environmental activities on and off school grounds

—Dealing with animal welfare, biodiversity and resource conservation

This creates a lively learning space in which knowledge, attitude and action come together.

Joint impact with a long-term perspective

The Maria Streibich Foundation supports the project as a strategic partner with start-up funding, expertise and network. The aim is to permanently anchor ONE HEALTH in curriculum and everyday school life and to create a model that has an impact beyond Salem — as a contribution to a healthier, more sustainable and responsible society.
